Ancestry Quilts

One of the cool things about photos is that you can print them onto fabric and use them in quilts! This is a great way to share some of those old photos with loved ones.

The quilt shown here was made by one of my long time friends. She's an avid quilter and took photos of her family and created this awesome keepsake.

Before printing the photos onto fabric, she edited them to crop out unwanted backgrounds and create nice close ups of people. Then she converted them to sepia tone so the coloring was the same on all photos.

As you can see several other quilt blocks were created to surround the photo blocks. If you click on the quilt, you'll see the larger image. This quilt was created as a special gift.

This was just one idea for using photos to create a beautiful keepsake. Imagine quilting your family tree? Pieces of historical family information can also be embroidered onto quilt blocks.

Possibilities are endless. But quilting is certainly another great way to preserve your family history while creating memorable keepsakes.
